San Bernardino shooting victim found in marijuana dispensary parking lot – Inland Valley Daily Bulletin

A man was found fatally shot in a parking lot behind a marijuana dispensary in San Bernardino early Saturday morning, Oct. 16.

Police on Saturday night identified the victim as Mark Burton, 40, of Moreno Valley. Police believe the shooting is related to a marijuana dispensary that was open at the time, San Bernardino police Lt. Michele Mahan said. It was the only business open then, she added.

Detectives did not immediately release details on what led them to that conclusion.

She said a sergeant patrolling in the downtown area around 3:52 a.m. heard gunshots. He and other patrol officers searched and determined there had been a shooting at the rear of a marijuana dispensary at 570 W. 4th Street.

The officers found a man who had been shot in the parking lot behind the dispensary, Mahan said. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he died, she said.

“Although this location is near (a) movie theater and shares a public parking lot in common, this shooting did not take place at the theater and was unrelated to the theater in any way,” Mahan said, adding that the theater had been closed for several hours before the shooting occurred.
